Here is a check list for a jealous person:
- Do you approach new relationships with suspicion and a lack of trust?
- Are you constantly questioning and checking up on your partner?
- Setting traps to prove your partner can't be trusted?
- Are you controlling and punishing?
When you examine your jealous feelings more closely you will probably come to see that your fears are exaggerated or irrational.
Therapy can help you discover where these fears come from in
your past. You can then begin to let go of jealous feelings, and the
need to focus them on your partner. Instead you can look at your
feelings about your own relationship with your world. Through this you
let go of your destructive behaviour, and learn to trust your partner,
and, more importantly, trust yourself.
